10 Keys to a good relationship

Whether it’s summer, winter, on vacation or in the midst of our daily lives, it’s always a good time to create new habits in our relationship.

Here are 10 key tips to take care of and grow your relationship so that it doesn’t become monotonous and isn’t just another year together with that person.

  1. Open, honest communication and… exciting!: Talking about your feelings, desires and concerns is essential to maintaining a healthy relationship. Listen actively to your partner and express yourself in a respectful manner. Take advantage of this opportunity to have deep, exciting, thrilling, and interesting conversations. Capture your partner’s interest through your conversation, show interest in each other, use communication to get closer.
  2. Builds trust: Trust is the foundation of any strong relationship and allows us to enjoy our relationship. Keep your promises and show your partner that they can trust you in all situations.
  3. Share quality time: Dedicate exclusive time to your partner. Whether it’s a romantic dinner (at home is fine too), a walk together, a massage in bed. Stop watching TV and give him more exclusive attention. This will strengthen your bond.
  4. Keep a sense of humor: Humor relieves tension and strengthens connection. Laughing together, at yourself, doing silly things, taking yourself less seriously… All of this strengthens your complicity and, in addition, laughter contributes to our happiness and well-being.
  5. Learn to compromise: In relationships, sometimes you need to compromise on certain things. You can’t always be right, and in fact, it’s not about being right. A relationship is not a battle to see who knows more. This is about taking care of each other.
  6. Mutual support: Being there for each other through thick and thin makes us feel connected and shows your commitment.
  7. Maintain individuality: Even though you share a life together, it is important to maintain your personal interests and friendships. Individual space enriches the relationship and your autonomy makes you feel confident in yourself as well as in your relationship as a couple.
  8. Constructive conflict resolution: Arguments are normal and necessary (we must debate when we disagree), but it is essential to address problems or different ways of thinking in a constructive manner. Listen, find solutions together and avoid blame. You are a team.
  9. Demonstrations of love and affection: Don’t underestimate the power of a loving gesture or a kind word. How easy it is to forget to hug, kiss or caress! Expressing love and appreciation strengthens the emotional bond and makes us feel loved and wanted.
  10. Seek professional support if necessary: If difficult challenges arise or you feel your relationship weakening, consider consulting a couples coach. In the sessions you will receive guidance and tools to overcome obstacles and find new approaches that will help you regain your motivation to live your relationship more fully. (individual or couple sessions)

Remember that a successful relationship requires mutual effort and perseverance.

As I always say in our sessions, workshops or presentations:
Always keep the goal in mind (in this case, taking care of your relationship) and work on it every day.
Every day “a little” is more than “once in a while” or “when there is time.”

So write down point 11: Take care of your relationship every day.
